Youth Activities by St. Cloud Muskies, Inc.
Youth Programs are supported by yearly financial contributions or involvement of volunteers from St. Cloud Chapter Muskies Inc.

Big Brothers / Big Sisters Youth Lure Making Workshop
2020
    2019
In February, the Chapter hosts a lure making night for the BBBS.  The night is full of education from learning about different lures to what species of fish are associated most with the particular lure.  The youth assemble, paint and decorate lures that they each take home and hope to use during the upcoming open water season.  They also decorate lures that are auctioned off at the annual BBBS Gala and it raises money for their organization. This event is another great way our volunteers can share their passion for fishing with the youth of our community.

Big Brothers / Big Sisters Youth Fishing Events
2019      2018     2017     2016
For 18 years our St Cloud chapter has partnered with BBBS of St Cloud to host a spring fishing outing on a local pond.  The youth that participate are given a rod/reel combo along with tackle box full of entry level fishing items.  The youth are instructed in casting, knot tying, lure selection, and other info to introduce them to the activity of fishing.  The youth try their knew found skills in the stocked pond of fish.  The outing is full of fun, smiles and a great day for all volunteers and participants and culminates with a cook out.

Waite Park Festival Youth Fishing Contest
This worthwhile event is held annually in June and our chapter members have been involved with hosting a fishing contest at a local pond.  At this event more than 150 youth participate in fishing and learning more about the sport and we share our passion for it.  At the event, each child receives a tackle pack full of items to kick start their involvement in the lifelong sport of fishing.   At both of these events, excitement and smiles are seen throughout the day by the kids, their mentors and all the chapter volunteers.  Each year our chapter volunteers comment on how rewarding it is to help kids learn more about fishing.

MN State High School Musky Tournament
This annual event is hosted locally at Lake Alexander and introduces musky fishing to high school age youth in a tournament format.  Local high schools will send teams to compete.  The winning team moves on to the state championship at Lake Vermillion.  Our club donates funds for awards, food and hospitality to help make this event successful.

Youth Conservation Alliance
The mission of the YCA is to teach environmental education, highlighting fishing & hunter safety as family activities; something everyone can enjoy regardless of age. The YCA believes the outdoors should play a key role in child and teenage development and act as a conduit for conservation throughout a person’s lifetime.
Our Chapter helps to fray the costs of a yearly outing that is hosted by the YCA in Hayward WI and introduces area youth to fishing for muskies with local and professional guides.
