The 14th annual Big Brother and Big Sisters Outing took place on Sat May 7, 2016. The weather was the best we have had in the last few years with sunshine and light winds. The early warm spring weather brought out the highest participation we have ever had. A record 25 kids attend the event with their adult sponsors. Each child received a spin cast combo and a tackle box. The fish did cooperate and all of the kids caught at multiple fish. The highlights were the two 18” and one 20”catfish that were caught and put up a good fight for the little anglers. The smiles were all around as kids learned how to cast and rig rods for the first time. There was a photographer from the St. Cloud Times to capture the fun and excitement. The Chapter received many compliments on the great day and teaching the sport of fishing to the youth. The event culminated with a small cook out and an awards ceremony.
Thanks to all of the volunteers that came out for the morning. Volunteers included Ken and Noreen Schmitt, Eric Poissant, Bruce Kitowski, Ryan Hoffman and Eric Kohn.
