2018 Big Brothers-Big Sisters Fishing Event
The 16th annual Big Brother and Big Sisters Outing took place on Sat May 5, 2018. The weather was spectacular with a light breeze and beautiful sunshine. We had 19 kids attend the event with their adult sponsors. Each child received a spin cast combo and a tackle box full of baits. The bite was slow for bluegills but hot for channel catfish. The final total was 28 fish caught including 12 catfish up to 22 inches, a 12” sucker and many bluegills up to 7”. There were kids that caught their first ever fish with the help of our volunteers. Very cool. All of the participants were very appreciative of the time and talents that were shared with them from our numerous volunteers from the chapter. The event culminated with a small cook out and an awards ceremony.
Thanks to all of the volunteers that came out for the morning. Volunteers included Adam Smith, Bruce Kitowski, Craig Tweedale, Darlene Rosten, Eric Kohn, Eric Poissant, Justin Sharer, Kenneth Schmitt, Kenneth Smith, Mark Rosten, Michael Ruff, Norine Schmitt, Patrick Lehner, Scott Wold, and Steven Bautch.
